LECCA: SOLA

lecca continues her turbo-charged dance marathon with her jumpy digital single "SOLA."

Japanese songstress lecca's new digital single, "SOLA," begins with some lovely, gently plucked acoustic guitar as well as another acoustic string instrument that I can't positively identify -- my best guess would be ukulele -- along with beautiful strings of the orchestral variety. It soon reveals even more layers as it adds all sorts of clattering live percussion and a turbo-charged dance beat along with shimmering synth, fuzzy synthesized bass and other sounds. And, of course, super passionate vocals by the always amazing lecca herself.

LECCA: ZOOLANDER

Former reggae queen Lecca delivers a highly impressive album of bangers and other club-ready goodness, commanding you to dance.

Historically, lecca has been considered a reggae artist and always seemed happy as such. But her last album, Step One, found her trying new things, particularly dance, pop and R&B. She still did a few reggae songs, yes, but the album's title clearly indicated that this was her first step in a new direction, or the first step in widening her horizons. So it should come as no surprise that her new album, ZOOLANDER, only has a couple of songs with even a hint of reggae. Mostly, it's comprised of club-ready dance anthems.

LECCA: STEP ONE

LECCA: STEP ONE

According to Wikipedia, Lecca "is a Japanese reggae singer-songwriter." However, I can tell you that the majority of Step One is most definitely not a reggae album. If I had to label it I would have to go with pop, though many of its 15 tracks are quite danceable.
